“Teaching Power Yoga with Clarity & Confidence”

Location: HIGH STREET YOGA, “ The Riverside” 10 Broad St., Westerly RI


Whether you are already an instructor, plan to become one, or choose to deepen your practice energetically, this training will provide you with the skills and tools necessary to uncover your hidden strengths and blind spots. 


The training will jump start your  journey to power and self discovery. It will help awaken clarity and confidence leaving you with vast possibilities that result from this transformative experience.

This Program is For:


  • Individuals wishing to pursue international yoga teacher certification or to continue professional development related to any field of physical fitness, wellness, personal training, or sports management.

  • Someone who is curious about a healthy yoga practice and lifestyles associated with teaching yoga. 

  • Those who desire to take their yoga and yogic practices knowledge to the next level.

  • Individuals who don’t plan on teaching will benefit from this training. You will set yourself on the path towards self discovery through awareness, accountability and clear communication skills. You will be supported by mentors, fellow teachers and build self confidence.

  • People looking for a career change, who are ready to connect and inspire students, from grass root visions and prepare you to work anywhere in the world.


Yoga involves structure, continuity and adaptability. This program is specifically designed to offer each student the highest standards set forth by the 200 Hour Yoga Alliance Certified Teachers Standards, in a format that allows for balancing your life.


  • The online certification overview includes:

  • Communication and support with teachers & mentors, at any time.

  • Weekly sessions together at High Street Yoga. These sessions are available Tuesdays, Wednesdays or weekends.

  • Classes taught at High Street Yoga are always available through a dial in call, so that you can practice at home.

  • Group discussion calls.

  • Practice teaching online in a closed group

  • Required readings, written homework and video assignments

  • Final exam, to ensure students has a solid understanding of the Journey into Power series, along with basic philosophy, anatomy, assisting provided in the course.

  • Upon successful completion, you can teach anywhere in the world! 


Our time together during the Teaching Power Yoga with Clarity & Confidence course, is exciting, eye opening, fun, challenging and life changing.


Yoga Alliance’s requirements for a 200 certification include the following topics as defined below:


1. Asana: Techniques, Training and Practice (100 Hours)


Topics in this category could include, but are not limited to: Asanas, Pranayamas, Kriyas, Chanting, Mantra, Meditation and other traditional yoga techniques. 


These hours must be a mix between:


  • Analytical training in how to teach and practice the techniques

  • Guided practice of the techniques themselves. Both areas must receive substantial emphasis


2. Methodology (25 Hours) 


Topics in this category could include, but are not limited to:

  • Communication skills such as group dynamics, time management, and the establishment of priorities and boundaries.

  • How to address the specific needs of individuals and special populations to a group specific group setting.

  • Principles of demonstration, observation, assisting and positive feedback.

  • How to teach with clarity & confidence.

  • Qualities of being an illuminated teacher and confident leader.

  • Business aspects of teaching yoga (including marketing and legal)


3. Anatomy and Physiology (20 Hours)


Topics in this category could include, but are not limited to: 


  • Human physical anatomy and physiology (bodily systems, organs, etc.)

  • Energy anatomy and physiology (chakras, nadis, etc.)

  • Study of anatomy and physiology along with its application to yoga practice (benefits, contraindications, healthy movement patterns, etc.)

  • Special Requirements: A minimum of five of the above hours must be spent applying anatomy and physiology principles to yoga.


4. Yoga Philosophy, Lifestyle and Ethics (30 Hours)


Topics in this category could include, but are not limited to:


  • The study of yoga philosophies and contemporary texts. Among the examples are:, Patanjali’s  Yoga Sutras, BKS Iyengar, The Bhagavad Gita, Deepak Chopra, Miguel Ruiz, Eckhart Tolle and Melody Beattie.

  • Yoga lifestyle. Understanding the essence of the “Yamas and Niyamas” as they apply to daily living.

  • Ethics for yoga teachers, such as those involving teacher – student relationships and community.

  • Understanding the value of teaching yoga as a service and being of service to others (seva)

  • Special Requirements: A minimum of 2 of the above Contact Hours must be spent on ethics for yoga teachers.


5. Practicum (10 Hours)


Topics in this category include:


  • Special Requirement: Each trainee must spend a minimum of 5 Contact Hours actively practicing teaching as the lead instructor.  This does not include assisting, observing or giving feedback.

  • Receiving and giving feedback through active listening.

  • Observing others teaching.

  • Assisting students while someone else is teaching.

  • Time spent assisting, observing others teaching, or giving feedback to others are NOT practicum hours.

  • Evaluation or observation of yoga classes outside of the RYS Teacher Training constitutes Non-Contact Hours


Remaining Contact & Elective Hours:


Remaining hours outside of the dates offered below, are to be distributed among the five RYT YA 200 Hour Standard Educational Categories.  Programs attended outside of this training must be approved by the director of the program.

Handout information will be provided during the course of the training. It is the student’s responsibility to make sure their manual is up to date and the assignments are completed.


In order to complete the “Teaching Power Yoga with Clarity and Confidence”  there will be a brief writing assignment, an oral exam and solid demonstration of teaching a one hour Power Yoga class based upon Baron Baptiste’s,  Journey into Power sequence.

  • Teacher Training is rigorous on a physical and emotional level.

  • Self care is imperative.

  • Conflicts will  come up, planned or unexpected.

  • Scheduled session times missed, need to be discussed with the Director of the program.

  • Teachers, mentors and fellow students are always available for support.

  • Be willing to be bold and brighter than ever before.

  • Complete and submit application.

  • Signed Liability Waiver, provided with the application.

  • The cost of the program is $2,600.00 tuition upon acceptance. 


Additional Information:


  • All High Street Yoga classes are included with tuition & signed contract, until completion of the program.

  • Additional workshops, retreats offered at High Street Yoga, are not covered in the tuition.

  • Yoga Alliance Certification is upon approval of the director, based on completion of requirements.

  • It is required that a photo and bio be completed before your final session
