The first yoga class Andrea took was a Community class at High Street Yoga. The vulnerability and strength she saw combined with her immediate love for the heated room was all she needed to feel to began her love affair with Baptiste yoga. Her love for health in all areas- mind, body, and soul- keeps her on the unwavering road to peace and physical strength, a vital piece of life she feels yoga can bring to all. Andrea sought her teaching certification through NEPY, and exemplifies the contagious feeling that self love brings to you, in her teaching.
Bella took her first HSY class as a freshman in high school. From there, she was hooked. She completed her 200 Hour YTT at Charleston Power Yoga in South Carolina this past year. She started to use yoga as a practice and meditation after a knee injury and began to truly realize the physical and mental benefits of the practice. She loves to sweat and push people to their true potential.

Leah Gallen found her yoga journey in 2009, when she needed an escape from the stressors of being in a twelve member family. She found far more than just an escape, her fire and passion came alive.
You might hear her sing from her mat in class or carry a tune she loves while teaching. When Leah is not at HSY, she loves to spend time with friends, travel, hike and run.
Leah received her Yoga Alliance 200 Hr. Yoga Teacher Certification with High Street Yoga in 2019. Her quick wit and energy is contagious. Leah delivers an inspiring, consistent and uplifting class every time.
Tamera has been practicing yoga since 2001, when she started taking a class at her gym and found that it helped her overcome some chronic lower back pain. She has explored many styles, ranging from Kundalini to Bikram, and has learned something useful from all of them. She has been teaching yoga both privately and in group spiritual retreats for many years. She delights in introducing beginners to the benefits of a regular yoga practice.
Julia Anne completed her 200 Hour Integrative Vinyasa Flow YTT with Coral Brown. A banker by day, she began her yoga journey 18 years ago after the birth of her second son to improve fitness and flexibility. Over the years, she developed a passion for the mental and spiritual practice. She has also studied with Tamsy Markham at High Street Yoga and some other southern RI teachers. She discovered that her yoga practice, combined with some other alternative healing methods, transformed her health. Including a chronic back issue that she lived with all of her life, and also gave tools for reducing stress and anxiety. Teaching allows Julia Anne to share her enthusiasm and passion for yoga with others.
Tamsy learned firsthand that yoga could generate positive change and bring people together. After studying extensively under Baron Baptiste, Tamsy began living in truth, eventually creating her own studio in 2009 and accredited yoga school in 2012. As a leader in the yoga community, Tamsy inspires others each day to find their own power through the transformation and connection of yoga. Her Baptiste classes offer the foundation for creativity to thrive.
Tommy is the real deal. There are very few words to describe him, other than, “experience.” His life and yoga are the same. Simply put, show up and learn. The middle of 5 sons, Tommy has mastered the art of listening and being who he is. This is a testament to both being a student and masterful teacher.
Tommy started yoga with High Street in 2012, as a senior at Stonington High School. He completed his 200 Hr. Yoga Alliance certification with High Street Yoga in 2014.
The gift that he brings to his students is confidence. Be you and that will work. Yet, within all of us, there is a passion, energy that cannot be contained. Keep it simple, think less, be bold and the best part of the practice is putting what stands in your way, to rest.
